Welcome to my blog

Hi, I'm Chris,

on this blog I would like to write about my affective disorder [1] and ADHD [2], which were only diagnosed in my adulthood, as well as my current ongoing ASD [3] diagnosis.

The blog is part of my self-therapy [6] and is intended to enable me to publicly share my view of my life, my neurological disorder and the symptoms resulting from it. I would also like to use this medium to provide support to other affected individuals and show them that they are not alone with their condition, as well as to reduce the stigma in this area.

In the context of autism spectrum disorder and ADHD, many individuals, like myself, were (or are) unaware of their developmental disorder at first and have adapted adaptive strategies to mask their deficits in order to cope with their unusual behaviors. [7]

From my own experience, I know how well adjusted and believable you can play these roles on the surface. In my case, this led to a severe inner conflict, which created considerable psychological stress over a long period of time, as a result of which I was prescribed the SSRI antidepressant Escitalopram at the end of 2019.

While taking this medication, I experienced an induced psychotic manic episode at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

Only in the aftermath of this implosion and the resulting consequences, which forced me to address fundamental issues in my life, was I able to make progress in the diagnostic field.

In this case of the external perception of those affected, I would like to give social peers an insight “behind the scenes” and provide a different perspective, which will hopefully lead to more understanding and acceptance in the long term.

I will therefore try to bring a general, objective viewpoint into my blog posts in addition to my own subjective one. Although I will start by mainly sharing my personal point of view, as this is the initial purpose of the blog.

In addition to these mainly psychological topics, which will be a central aspect of this blog, I would also like to write about my professional field of computer science and my hobby of hiking.

I do not wish to dismiss other topics at the moment either; my spectrum of interests is wide, but only partially focused.

In this sense, I hope you enjoy reading my blog.
